At the very first Carifta Games ever, Trevor Frederick represented Trinidad & Tobago and won gold in the 100m and 200m events.
50 years later, his granddaughters Sanaa & Sole Frederick are representing Trinidad & Tobago and representing well!!!
On opening day, Sanaa Frederick running the Under 20 100m, placed first in her preliminary heat running a time of 11.47. She came first in the Semi-finals with a time of 11.52 and rocked the Finals– medaling Bronze with a time of 11.65.
On Day 2, Sanaa Frederick, was again a standout athlete, winning the Semi-finals of the Under 20 200m. In the 4x100m relay, both Sanaa and Sole Frederick shone brightly and won the Silver medal for Trinidad & Tobago.
Carifta 50 is Sanaa and Sole’s first international competition, and if the legacy left by their grandfather is any indication of their success, we are at the beginning of amazing careers with these twin sisters.
